QMS Standards

Welcome to our Cannabis Operators Blog and to our Learning Community.

Quality Management Systems are designed for the Implementer to meet numerous “standards”. Those standards are clearly defined by a series of clauses. Because we recommend ISO 9001-2015 for our cannabis partners, we will show you what the ISO clauses are and how they affect you.

ISO is comprised of 10 Clauses. The first three are an introduction to ISO QMS and contain useful information regarding how to navigate the standards and terms and definitions that you will find valuable.

Clauses 4–10 specify the standards that you must attest that you have implemented. Please see the table below for the breakdown of the clauses and their subsections.

As you look at the table of clauses you may think they are overwhelming. Quite honestly, if you have few or no Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) in place, it will take you longer to implement your QMS. If you are attempting to implement your QMS and you just can’t seem to understand the standards, The Advisory is here to help you succeed.

A QMS for a cultivation or manufacturing vertical will be more involved than for a dispensary or transportation vertical. You will find some standards that do not apply to your vertical. That’s ok, just note that they are not applicable in your files.

Thank you for joining our learning community. As always, if you have any questions about Regulatory Compliance, do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you simplify your operations.
